Donalda

Going off topic in the last couple of entries as time restraints with school load have limited my research time on careers. I’ll get back on course after turkey wknd.

Every week as part of our school curriculum, we take a field trip to an industry related destination. Today's trip was at the Donalda golf and country club.  By the way Dave, Scott says hi. Growing up in Toronto I was rather surprised to have never heard of the course. Tucked away in the heart of the Don Valley, this lush high end course is a hidden sanctuary for 600 plus families. It’s understandable why Rob (our program coordinator) picked this a place as one of our destinations, as Scott seems to have been born for the job of guest speaking.

The facility is impressive and lives up to the definition of what country club should be. In addition to the tennis courts, fitness facilities and dome for winter practice, the latest addition is the golf simulators. Each unit comes with a price tag of $50,000.  Scott was a little weary about them at first, for two reasons. One, are they worth it, will people use them. Now he’s happy they only got four as they have become quite the highlight at the club. Fortunately people still prefer to play the real game. A simulator is after all, a "Wii game console" on steroids.
